Full size van wheelchair conversions can be split into two categories; a conversion focused more towards commercial travel, and a conversion that is primarily used for recreational travel.
Commercial wheelchair van conversions are popular for group homes or organizations that need a lot of space in the interior for comfortable transportation of wheelchair occupants. These conversions typically come with a 28” Grand Sport raised roof and raised door extensions, a CMVS roll cage and headliner with three overhead lights and front overhead storage. A plywood sub floor with heavy duty rubber floor is installed and comes with a three passenger bench seat and a set of Sure Lok retractable tie downs. A mid door grab handle and step bar are installed as well. Ricon S2010 commercial lifts are installed in the rear of these vehicles.
Sidewinder Full Size Lowered Floor Wheelchair Vans
The lowered floor conversion on a full size van is where Sidewinder actually cuts a hole in the mid section of the van. Sidewinder then installs a 6” lowered pan that goes from the firewall to 5” in front of the rear wheel wells. Since the lowered pan goes all the way to the firewall, if an occupant sits tall in their wheelchair, they will get an extra 6” of clearance through the door opening, where with a raised roof, they would not. A lowered floor does not give as much clearance as a raised roof would, but if you only need an extra 6” and don't want to raise any height to your vehicle, this is an excellent choice. Ricon S1231 wheelchair lifts with power door openers are a popular choice for this conversion.

Sidewinder Full Size Travel Wheelchair Vans
Travel van full size wheelchair conversions include many of the same options with as the commercial conversion with few exceptions. The roof on the travel conversion is a 16” TV sport raised roof which allows the option for a TV to be installed. Typically a Ricon S1231 split platform lift with power door openers is installed on the travel van conversion due to the fact of cost efficiency and ease of use. Interiors can range from being custom or a traditional Palm Springs interior installation.
Sidewinder Full Size Sprinter Wheelchair Vans
When it comes to full size wheelchair conversions, Sprinter vans are often a popular choice due to the fact of how tall the vehicle is without a raised roof. These wheelchair conversions typically include a Ricon S2010 wheelchair lift in the rear of the vehicle with four sets of Sure Lok retractor tie downs and lap/shoulder belts with tracking.
Options for the Sprinter wheelchair conversion are aluminum steps in the front, and a power retractable step under the mid passenger door.
